Ms.Bjork Here -

And I love reading.

Ever since I was a child, I have enjoyed the company of a good book.  Books are also a way that I get through the stress of living - nothing like escaping in a good story!  My career as a mental health counselor can be very intense at times - reading and running are the two main ways that I utilize self-care to support my own mental health and wellbeing.  Before starting this blog, in 2020 I read 128 books.  At the end of the year, I was like Dang, that's a lot of books! How can I get out there and tell people what I think? And so Ms.Bjork Reads was born.

On this page, I hope to share with you books that I read with spoiler-free reviews as well as recommendations of other books like it. I read from a lot of genres but I really enjoy scary stories and non-fiction memoirs. Stephen King’s Green Mile might be my favorite book. In my next post, I will share with you my Top 10 Books from 2020 to give you a better sense of what I like to read as well as maybe add a few to your TBR. :)

I love the public library and most of the books that I read are from the library. When the pandemic shut down my local library in 2020, I bought a Kindle so I could continue to check books out from the library. They have an app and it is so easy to use! I purchased my Kindle for $47.99 on eBay, it is a Paperwhite 7th Gen. Reading books from the library is a great way to read on a budget. Don’t get me wrong, I still have my fair share of books - check out my #shelfie post. When I do buy books, I almost always buy used books. Going to used book stores is so fun! If it’s the middle of a pandemic or if for other reasons, you can’t make it to a used book store, abebooks.com is a great place to find good prices on used books. When buying new books, if you can’t make it to your local book store, sites like bookshop.org are awesome because they support local bookstores.  I do not recommend Amazon - I know it’s cheap and fast, but there are other places out there that need your support.  Another way that I read books is by listening. About a third of the books I read last year were audiobooks. There are some great productions of audiobooks out there, I love it best when they are read by the author.  Audiobooks can also be checked out from the library and this is how I access them.  From audiobooks to ebooks to hard copies, you can imagine that my holds shelf can get pretty long! Putting books on hold is the most common way that I queue what I will read next.

Well I guess that’s a good place to start - welcome again, I hope this finds you cuddled up on the couch under a soft blanket and ready to start your next favorite book!
