A Very Punchable Face (Click Here To Buy)

★★★★☆

A Very Punchable Face by Colin Jost is a memoir written by one of the writers/cast members of Saturday Night Live.

I read this as an audiobook read by the author and checked out from the library.

Jost talks about bits and pieces from his “life so far” - from growing up on Staten Island to his mom being a firefighter in 9/11 to working on SNL, Jost really spans the gamut. The book is filled with numerous “this one time”s that are just too ridiculous to make up. It was also neat to learn a bit more about Jost’s life and how he got to SNL.

I love Saturday Night Live and it was a treat to listen to the audiobook, which is read by Jost. There were a number of points where I was LOLing, which doesn’t happen much when I’m listening to books, so I appreciated that. A fun read.

If you liked A Very Punchable Face, I also recommend Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh, Sigh, Gone by Phuc Tran, Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams, and Marbles by Ellen Forney. You know, it turns out I don’t read a lot of funny books quite like this, so these recs were a bit difficult to come by.

Happy reading and laughing,

Ms.Bjork

About Me

IMG_1517.jpg

Ms.Bjork here and I love reading.  Ever since I was a child, I have enjoyed the company of a good book.  Books are also a way that I get through the stress of living - nothing like escaping in a good story!  My career as a mental health counselor can be very intense at times - reading and running are the two main ways that I utilize self-care to support my own mental health and wellbeing.  Before starting this blog, in 2020 I read 128 books.  At the end of the year, I was like Dang, that's a lot of books! How can I get out there and tell people what I think? And so Ms.Bjork Reads was born.
