Finna by Nino Cipri is a fiction book about woman who gets lost in a wormhole in a retail store and the two workers who have to go in after her.

I checked this book out from the library.

Ava and Jules are two minimum wage employees who work at LitenVärld, which is basically Ikea. When an elderly woman wanders into a wormhole, which *surprise* exist, these two are the ones who have to take the Finna device to locate her and bring her back because they have the least seniority. To make matters more awkward, Ava and Jules just broke up three days ago. We follow these two as they navigate multiple worlds as well as their relationship with each other while trying to locate and bring back this customer to her granddaughter.

The uniqueness of this book is what hooked me and will hook you too. Coming in at 106 pages, I was amazed at how much Cipri packed in. I also appreciated one of the character's use of they/them pronouns (which the author uses too) I feel like we don't see this enough in literature. Overall, this tiny book is definitely worth the read.

If you liked Finna, I also recommend The Changeling by Victor LaValle, Pet by Akwaeke Emezi, Elevation by Stephen King, and Ring Shout by P. Djèlí Clark.

Happy reading ~

About Me

IMG_1517.jpg

Ms.Bjork here and I love reading.  Ever since I was a child, I have enjoyed the company of a good book.  Books are also a way that I get through the stress of living - nothing like escaping in a good story!  My career as a mental health counselor can be very intense at times - reading and running are the two main ways that I utilize self-care to support my own mental health and wellbeing.  Before starting this blog, in 2020 I read 128 books.  At the end of the year, I was like Dang, that's a lot of books! How can I get out there and tell people what I think? And so Ms.Bjork Reads was born.
