★★★☆☆

Holy Cow by David Duchovny is a fiction book about a cow.

I read this as an audiobook checked out from the library and read by the author. I’m a huge X-Files fan, which is the main things that keeps me coming back for more of Duchovny’s writing.

Elsie is just your typical American Cow living on a farm in upstate NY until one day she breaks out of her pen and sees that cows are being slaughtered on television. She decides she must run away and determines that India is the place for her, because cows are sacred there. While planning her escape, a pig decides he wants to go to Israel and a turkey that he wants to join and go to Turkey. Adventure ensues.

This book is a bit ridiculous.

I have also read Bucky F*cking Dent, and just as with this book, I enjoyed it extensively as an audiobook read by Duchovny.

If you liked Holy Cow, I also recommend Animal Farm by George Orwell, Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh, Still Life with Woodpecker by Tom Robbins, and Rat (short story in If it Bleeds) by Stephen King.

About Me

IMG_1517.jpg

Ms.Bjork here and I love reading.  Ever since I was a child, I have enjoyed the company of a good book.  Books are also a way that I get through the stress of living - nothing like escaping in a good story!  My career as a mental health counselor can be very intense at times - reading and running are the two main ways that I utilize self-care to support my own mental health and wellbeing.  Before starting this blog, in 2020 I read 128 books.  At the end of the year, I was like Dang, that's a lot of books! How can I get out there and tell people what I think? And so Ms.Bjork Reads was born.
