Lightseekers (Click Here To Buy)

★★★☆☆

Lightseekers by Femi Kayode is a mystery book about an investigative psychologist in Nigeria trying to solve a murder. I read this as an audiobook on loan from the library. In the small town of Okriki, three boys from the local university were murdered by a mob. Dr. Taiwo is an investigative psychologist who recently moved back to Lagos, Nigeria after completing his clinical psychology PhD in the States where he focused on lynch mobs in the South. Taiwo is asked by a father of one of the boys murdered to investigate why this happened. What Taiwo discovers, with the help of his driver Chika, is an entangled web of corruption and premeditation. A classic murder mystery set in the backdrop of modern Nigeria with complex and developed characters, numerous plot twists. If you liked Lightseekers, I also recommend The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith, The Death of Vivek Oji by Akwaeke Emezi, The Guest List by Lucy Folley, and Into the Water by Paula Hawkins. #happyreading Ms.Bjork

About Me

IMG_1517.jpg

Ms.Bjork here and I love reading.  Ever since I was a child, I have enjoyed the company of a good book.  Books are also a way that I get through the stress of living - nothing like escaping in a good story!  My career as a mental health counselor can be very intense at times - reading and running are the two main ways that I utilize self-care to support my own mental health and wellbeing.  Before starting this blog, in 2020 I read 128 books.  At the end of the year, I was like Dang, that's a lot of books! How can I get out there and tell people what I think? And so Ms.Bjork Reads was born.
