Ms.Bjork here, it’s time for my October Reads on bookstagram! Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year and look forward to reading the spookiest books I can find during this time. This month, the 9 books I read are in tiers of terrifying, lukewarm screams, and either not Halloween-y or *yawn* not creepy enough.

Favorite Book This Month:

The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris

Runner Up:

The Ballad of Black Tom by Victor LaValle

TIER 1: Terrifying

An FBI student tries to track down a serial killer with the help of a serial killer.

A retelling of H.P Lovecraft's The Horror at Redhook told from the perspective of a black man

An online relationship gone wrong.

TIER 2: Lukewarm Screams

The search for a missing boy.

A girl who loves slasher films finds herself in one.

A folk band rents out an old house to make an album but things get weird.

TIER 3: Not Halloween-y or *yawn* not creepy enough

A woman without a memory thinks her husband might be lying to her.

  • Dune by Frank Herbert

Set on another planet, a young prince fights the fulfillment of his fate.

Inter-weaving narratives recount violent events in paradise.

Read any of these?

What did you read this month?

About Me

IMG_1517.jpg

Ms.Bjork here and I love reading.  Ever since I was a child, I have enjoyed the company of a good book.  Books are also a way that I get through the stress of living - nothing like escaping in a good story!  My career as a mental health counselor can be very intense at times - reading and running are the two main ways that I utilize self-care to support my own mental health and wellbeing.  Before starting this blog, in 2020 I read 128 books.  At the end of the year, I was like Dang, that's a lot of books! How can I get out there and tell people what I think? And so Ms.Bjork Reads was born.
