State of Terror (Click Here To Buy)

★★★★★

State of Terror by Hillary Rodham Clinton and Louise Penny is a political thriller about the threat of a nuclear bomb.

I put this book on hold at the library before it was released and it was a long hold! I bought it for my boyfriend’s sister for her birthday and I had a lot of fun talking with her about it.

Ellen Adams is recently elected Secretary of State for the United States and the new President who appointed her used to be her enemy. When 3 bombs go off in European cities, Ellen must overcome her history with the President and find out who is behind the bombings as well as how to stop more from detonating. Her search takes her all around the world from Germany to Iran to Russia - meeting with world leaders and trying to figure out what’s planned next so she can stop it.

This book was fast paced and jumped right in from page one. I was kept guessing as to what would happen next while learning how the government works as well as foreign cultures. The book inspired me to look up some Iranian (aka Persian) food and it was delicious!

If you liked State of Terror, I also recommend While Justice Sleeps by Stacey Abrams, The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris, When No One Is Watching by Alyssa Cole, and Against the Loveless World by Susan Abdulhawa.

Happy reading!

About Me

IMG_1517.jpg

Ms.Bjork here and I love reading.  Ever since I was a child, I have enjoyed the company of a good book.  Books are also a way that I get through the stress of living - nothing like escaping in a good story!  My career as a mental health counselor can be very intense at times - reading and running are the two main ways that I utilize self-care to support my own mental health and wellbeing.  Before starting this blog, in 2020 I read 128 books.  At the end of the year, I was like Dang, that's a lot of books! How can I get out there and tell people what I think? And so Ms.Bjork Reads was born.
