The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon (Click Here To Buy)

★★★★★

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King is a fiction book about a girl who gets lost in the woods.

I received this copy (1st edition UK print) from some very thoughtful co-workers.

Tricia is a 9 year old girl who gets tired of listening to her mother and brother fight during a weekend hike on the Appalachian Trail and so steps off the trail to take a leak. Afterwards, she tries to take a short-cut to get back on the trail but ends up getting lost in the woods. Over the course of the next several days, Tricia gets stung by wasps, falls down a steep hill, and wades through a swamp. Listening to the Red Sox games on her WalkMan (bring me back to the 90s!) keeps her going along with talking out loud to her favorite player, Tom Gordon. Something is following her in the woods tho, she hears it at night and senses it during the day, waiting…

I loved this book! I’m an avid hiker and Stephen King fan, so the combination works like peanut butter and jelly for me :) That fear of feeling something with you in the woods is real too! #fullbodyshiver Thank goodness for L-E, my trusty companion (pictured with the book in her adorable pink jacket)

Stephen King is hands down one of my favorite authors and I have read many many of his books. The Green Mile, The Bill Hodges Trilogy, and his book On Writing I recommend most highly (but I could go on for days).

If you liked The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, I also recommend Malorie (the sequel to Bird Box) by Josh Malerman, North by Scott Jurek, The End of the World Running Club by Adrian Walker, and Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer.

Happy reading - xo

About Me

IMG_1517.jpg

Ms.Bjork here and I love reading.  Ever since I was a child, I have enjoyed the company of a good book.  Books are also a way that I get through the stress of living - nothing like escaping in a good story!  My career as a mental health counselor can be very intense at times - reading and running are the two main ways that I utilize self-care to support my own mental health and wellbeing.  Before starting this blog, in 2020 I read 128 books.  At the end of the year, I was like Dang, that's a lot of books! How can I get out there and tell people what I think? And so Ms.Bjork Reads was born.
