Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke (Click Here To Buy)

★★★☆☆

Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke by Eric LaRocca is a novella about an internet relationship.

I read this book in one sitting on an airplane on my Kindle checked out from the library.

Agnes is trying to sell her great grandmother’s Apple peeler online. Zoe reaches out to her to purchase the item and the two hit it off, emailing and IM'ing daily. Quickly the relationship escalates into one of manipulation and control with Zoe having Agnes complete shocking and revolting tasks to prove herself. The relationship gets weirder and more twisted, leading to an ending you will not soon forget.

This is one of those books that you finish, and you are like WTF just happened. My partner leaned over my shoulder and read a few pages when I started the book and then looked over later and was like "How the hell did we get to this point?" I was too speechless to respond. If you're into bizarre, disturbingly wild rides, this is a read for you.

If you liked Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke, I also recommend Hurricane Season by Fernanda Melchor, In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado, Magma by Thora Hjörleifsdóttir, and Earthlings by Sayaka Murata.

Happy reading ⌨️

About Me

IMG_1517.jpg

Ms.Bjork here and I love reading.  Ever since I was a child, I have enjoyed the company of a good book.  Books are also a way that I get through the stress of living - nothing like escaping in a good story!  My career as a mental health counselor can be very intense at times - reading and running are the two main ways that I utilize self-care to support my own mental health and wellbeing.  Before starting this blog, in 2020 I read 128 books.  At the end of the year, I was like Dang, that's a lot of books! How can I get out there and tell people what I think? And so Ms.Bjork Reads was born.
