Tomorrow Will Be Different: Love, Loss, and The Fight For Equality by Sarah McBride is a memoir written by the first transgender Senator of Delaware.

I read this book as an audiobook checked out from the library and read by the author.

Sarah McBride always knew that she was transgender. She talks about this experience growing up until the moment she came out while she was the student body president for American University. Although very supported, Sarah tells readers about the less than ideal responses people had. Never the less, Sarah persisted. Always interested in politics, Sarah interned at the White House while Barack Obama was president and talks about fighting for trans rights in Delaware, her home state. Sarah goes on to talk about meeting the love of her life, Andy, only to have him tragically pass away from cancer. Sarah was the first trans speaker at a National Convention and ends the book after Trump was elected president with the promises of how tomorrow will be different.

I really enjoyed hearing Sarah’s story and learning more about what it means to be transgender. I appreciated Sarah’s vulnerability and honesty, feeling like I was right there with her. I’m grateful that she has shared her experiences with the world and I think she will continue to go far politically and personally. Bonus: Joe Biden wrote the introduction. A book definitely worth checking out. #happypride

If you liked Tomorrow Will Be Different, I also recommend Care Work by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, Hood Feminism by Mikki Kendall, Untamed by Glennon Doyle, and When They Call You a Terrorist by Patrisse Cullors.

Happy reading.

About Me

IMG_1517.jpg

Ms.Bjork here and I love reading.  Ever since I was a child, I have enjoyed the company of a good book.  Books are also a way that I get through the stress of living - nothing like escaping in a good story!  My career as a mental health counselor can be very intense at times - reading and running are the two main ways that I utilize self-care to support my own mental health and wellbeing.  Before starting this blog, in 2020 I read 128 books.  At the end of the year, I was like Dang, that's a lot of books! How can I get out there and tell people what I think? And so Ms.Bjork Reads was born.
