While Justice Sleeps (Click Here To Buy)

★★★★☆

While Justice Sleeps by Stacey Abrams is a fiction political thriller about a law clerk trying to solve clues left by a Supreme Court Judge in a coma.

I read this as an ebook checked out from the county library system.

Law clerk Avery Keene is equally surprised along with the rest of the nation when she discovers that her boss, Supreme Court Justice Wynn is not only in a coma but that he has also named her his power of attorney over his soon to be ex wife and estranged son. Avery does not want to accept but being the daft chess player that he is, Justice Wynn has made it hard for Avery to say no. Before his coma, Justice Wynn had uncovered deep corruption in the government as related to a vital Supreme Court Hearing about the merger of two biotech companies, of which he is the swing vote. Now it is up to Avery to figure out the clues left by Justice Wynn in order to save the day and bring justice to light.

Sometimes it is fun to read a political thriller: often a bit formulaic, littered with plot twists that leave you guessing and tearing through the next page to figure out what happens next - but then to read one by the powerhouse fighter for voter justice Stacey Abrams?! There was no way I could not read this book. It’s fun, you should read it too.

I have also read Our Time Is Now by Abrams, which is about the history of voting rights and I simply cannot recommend it enough. I also heard Abrams wrote a bunch of romance novels under a pseudonym?! Seriously what can't this woman do. #lifegoals #rolemodel

If you liked While Justice Sleeps, I also recommend When No One is Watching by Alyssa Cole, Lakewood by Megan Giddings, Blacktop Wasteland by S. A. Cosby, and Lightseekers by Femi Kayode.

Happy reading :)

About Me

IMG_1517.jpg

Ms.Bjork here and I love reading.  Ever since I was a child, I have enjoyed the company of a good book.  Books are also a way that I get through the stress of living - nothing like escaping in a good story!  My career as a mental health counselor can be very intense at times - reading and running are the two main ways that I utilize self-care to support my own mental health and wellbeing.  Before starting this blog, in 2020 I read 128 books.  At the end of the year, I was like Dang, that's a lot of books! How can I get out there and tell people what I think? And so Ms.Bjork Reads was born.
